I am pleased with the battery pack. It fits well and matches my Dimage A2 well. The AA battery tray works well and gives you the latitude to use batteries with your camera other than the NP-400. It does take six AA batteries. With the rechargeable Eveready AA batteries (2,300mAh), the next to highest picture size and pix count camera settings, using a flash for each picture I was able to take 175 pictures before I ran out of power. Without the tray you need two NP-400s. I can't report on how many pictures you can take with this setup because I haven't tried it yet. I did find third party NP-400 batteries in Canada that give you 1,750mAh instead of Minolta's 1,400mAh. They were 1/5 the Minolta price but one never knows??? I found the strap a throw away item. It just didn't feel right but that might have been just me. Happy picture taking.
