Close-up lenses are no substitute for macro accessories such as a bellows unit and extension ring, but they do allow you to take close-up shots covering a subject field with the area of half a postcard, taken at a range of down to around 25cm, with a standard lens. Their main advantage They do not block any light, so they only alter the reproduction ratio and greatly increase the working range of standard and telephoto lenses. For reasons of quality, stopping down to at least f/8 is recommended.

Cokin close-up filters bring details to life. For coin and stamp collectors, flower lovers, model makers, insect enthusiasts and those with a passion for tiny objects. Close-up filters are available in three diopters (strengths). Close-up +1 Diopter (101), Close-up +2 Diopter (102), Close-up +3 Diopter (103Cokin filters were invented by professional photographer Jean Coquin. By using square filters like Cokin's, which fit into a holder and are attached to a lens via an adapter ring, the photographer has a number of immediate advantages. There is no need to duplicate filters to fit different size lenses, up to three filters can be used at once to create unique effects, and the photographer has control over the positioning of the effect on the photograph.
